The days are spent trying to figure it out -- fit all the pieces of the puzzle together. Don't think my head is big enough for all this junk. Nights are spent in deep slumber, exhausted from a full day's non-work. Running a race against time... do it well or lose it all. So far, time seems to be winning.

I've been off the blogging circuit for a while now, due to work and other stuff taking up all my time these last few days. Got a break from the insanity for some time, so thought it best to put on record, a few recent important/interesting/funny/random events that have occurred so far.

I've started seeing this girl lately. She's fun, intelligent, wacky, down-to-earth and verrrrry good looking :D. Just met a few times, though things look to be going well. On our second date, we went to this nice place called the "Bayleaf" (thanks Ann :) ), and right after we placed our orders, she pulled out an electricity bill from her purse, excused herself for what she was about to do, then proceeded to dump her chewing gum into it. I knew I was gonna love her, right there :P.
A brother of one of my roommates has come down to Bangalore, hunting for a job. He's staying with us, and me and him are usually the only people in the house in the afternoons. We usually order for lunch or go out to a nearby 'Sagar'. Today we chose the latter. On our way back, we stopped to tank up. I was driving, and while exiting the station, I decided to check the tyre pressures as well. I stopped the bike at the queue, with two cars ahead of us. Then it started drizzling and I thought we oughta make a move, lest we get drenched, and told him as much. Then I drove off, never having realized that the poor chap (he's quite the flyweight) had dismounted when I had stopped for air. He's kinda timid and extremely soft-spoken so I never heard his calls. I did hear my phone ringing on my way back, but having no clue as to what had just happened, decided to call back once I was back home. Imagine my surprise when I entered the parking lot, only to find no pillion! By the time I had managed to get the poor fellow on the phone, he had walked half way in the rain back to the colony. And gentleman that he is, he politely turned down my offer to come back for him, since he was almost there :P. I know it is rather funny and all but I expect to hear quite a good lecture from the elder bro, who, having quite a few of the physical and personal charateristics of his younger sibling, has already been on the receiving end of the exact same antics from me, more than once. This doesn't promise to be a pleasant evening :P. What's even more worrisome is that the lady mentioned in #1 happens to be quite a lightweight as well. I shudder to think of the consequences if I end up doing a repeat performance on her :O !
Finally, the thing that's been keeping me busy the most... I've been trying for some time to start off as an independent consultant / full-time developer for a client I have been working with, on behalf of my previous company, for the last several months. Finished a marathon development phase yesterday and had a good meeting with him afterwards. Next phase of work starts this Friday, with me in one of the aforementioned positions. Things are beginning to look good :D !

One more bore-to-death Saturday. What a drag, just sitting in front my laptop with absolutely nothing to do. After the routine mail checks and a quick glance at various social networks and forums for anything new... you just sit there like a log. Perhaps a subconscious desire for a miracle to happen that will change this daily drudgery once and for all. For some reason, you think said miracle needs an internet connection in order to happen. Not surprising in these times.

Humankind seriously needs a reliable, sustainable, inexhaustible means of keeping oneself occupied at times like this. Come to think of it, what do I usually do to keep the blood flowing in my head? Maybe an attempt to list them out will remind me of something I can do right now:

Bug me mateys on messenger (None available at the moment)
Step out for grub (Waiting for a home delivery)
Sleep (Just woke up)
Random net surfing (Way too saturated with that for now)
Gym (Only in the evenings)
Riding (Can't do that everyday)
Watch a movie (Strange, but lately I've lost the patience to sit a whole 2-3 hours in front of a screen and stare)

Completely clueless right now. Think I'll go back to sleep. Anyone with any information on how to get a 27 year old techie to hibernate, contact me.

Omega molecules in a moment of spontaneous stabilization

The Omega molecule is a short-lived, highly unstable molecule, believed to be the most powerful substance in the known universe. Some Federation cosmologists theorize that Omega existed in nature at the instant of the Big Bang, when the universe as we know it was born.

An Omega molecule would be so energetic that even a few molecules would, in theory, be able to power a whole civilization. The molecule could be synthesized using boronite ore. A single Omega molecule was synthesized in the late 23rd century by Dr. Ketteract, a Federation physicist. The molecule remained stable for a fraction of a second before it exploded, killing 127 leading Federation scientists, destroying the research station and causing ruptures in subspace extending several light years, making warp travel and subspace communications impossible in the region. This region is known as the Lantaru sector, in order to retain secrecy of the cause of the impassibility of the region, all those who travel through it are told it is a natural phenomenon.

Starfleet Command immediately realized that the use of even a few Omega molecules could effectively end spacefaring travel in an entire quadrant or even the entire galaxy. Without subspace, planets and ships would have no way to travel or communicate with others, effectively ending interstellar civilization. The development of warp drive by less advanced nations would also become impossible. In short, the final frontier would be unreachable. Starfleet not only banned research into Omega, but issued the Omega Directive, ordering the destruction of Omega molecules by any means necessary, and the suppression of any knowledge of the particle's existence beyond starship captains and flag officers.

The Borg, who referred to Omega as Particle 010, regarded Omega with near-reverence as they believed it to exist in a flawless state. Because the Borg saw the Omega Molecule as "perfection", all Borg were ordered to assimilate it at any cost. From their data, the Borg designed a harmonic resonance chamber which could theoretically stabilize the molecule.

Another civilization in the Delta Quadrant was actually successful in synthesizing some 200 million Omega molecules in 2374. They were able to keep the molecules stable by using Omega's own resonance frequency to calibrate their containment field, though eventually an accident devastated their research facility. The starship USS Voyager managed to neutralize the molecules before they could do any further damage to subspace. Seven of Nine adapted the Borg harmonic resonance chamber design to emit an inverse frequency which would dissolve Omega's interatomic bonds. A few seconds before Seven's cargo bay would be decompressed to jettison the harmonic resonance chamber into space, the molecules started to stabilize spontaneously.
